HandBrake: Open Source Video Transcoder
HandBrake is an open source program that converts a wide variety of video file types, including DVD and BluRay discs that are not copyright protected. This tool is ideal for making sure older video files do not become obsolete and, therefore inaccessible. Intermediate to advanced computer users would benefit the most from this resource.

As part of the NDIIPP Briefing series, the Library of Congress hosted a presentation by John Spencer, president of BMS/Chace. Spencer leads a partnership with NDIIPP exploring the structured collection of audio multitrack metadata, working to create a shareable application that facilitates the gathering of technical and descriptive metadata across multiple roles in the recording process. This presentation highlights the technical and political background of the project, combined with a demonstration of the application and how it relates to the commercial audio industry.

Use ImageMagick to resize, flip, mirror, rotate, distort, shear and transform images, adjust image colors, apply various special effects, or draw text, lines, polygons, ellipses and Bézier curves.

HTTrack Website Copier
HTTrack is a free (GPL, libre/free software) and easy-to-use offline browser utility. It allows you to download a World Wide Web site from the Internet to a local directory, building recursively all directories, getting HTML, images, and other files from the server to your computer. HTTrack arranges the original site’s relative link-structure. Simply open a page of the “mirrored” website in your browser, and you can browse the site from link to link, as if you were viewing it online. HTTrack can also update an existing mirrored site, and resume interrupted downloads. HTTrack is fully configurable, and has an integrated help system.
